Building Islands from Bottles
Our flagship coastal restoration project with Glass Roots and Glass Half Full is turning recycled glass into new land to protect New Orleans.

Collect Glass
Glass Half Full collects bottles from homes and businesses across the metro area and crushes them into restoration-grade sand.
Build Islands
Glass Roots fills burlap sacks with sand and plants native marsh grasses, forming living barriers that grow stronger over time.
Restore the Coast
Every island built strengthens the natural storm barriers that protect New Orleans from hurricanes and flooding.
